The Massachusetts Independent Pharmacists Association (MIPA) is comprised of independent community pharmacists and those interested in independent community pharmacy throughout the State of Massachusetts. The Association's mission is to promote the practice of independent community pharmacy. To achieve this goal the Association works with a variety of healthcare organizations, regulatory agencies, and professional health-related Associations.
To support the practice of independent community pharmacy, MIPA represents the interests and views of its members to governmental and regulatory groups. The Association supports a variety of educational, promotional, and networking programs to assist its members in resolving problems or facing challenges in community pharmacy practice. MIPA strives to support independent pharmacies throughout Massachusetts so that they may continue to provide the high level or service and meet the medication-related needs of their patients.
Membership in MIPA is open to all. Registered pharmacists may select from the Store, Owner, Employee, or Retiree categories. Non-pharmacists are restricted to the Supportive Member category. Members receive monthly newsletters as well as email notices describing activities of the Association. Store and Owner/Manager members receive fax notices and can also advertise their pharmacy in the MIPA web site. These services are included in the membership fee.
